Lester K. Coghill (Ken), age 73, of Colchester, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy surrounded by family and friends. He was born September 21, 1950, in Macomb to Lester G. and Cora Carpenter Coghill. Ken was united in marriage in Macomb on July 8, 1974, to Lisa Kessler. Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife of 49 years, Lisa Coghill, Colchester, and 2 sons; Lester C. (Cindy Tesch) Coghill, Endicott, New York, Lyndon M. (Kimberly LeCompte) Coghill, Columbia, Missouri, 1 brother: John (Debbie) Coghill, Macomb, Illinois, nephews: Bob (Christina) Coghill, Merrillville, Indiana and great nephews: Tristan (Cassie) Coghill and Bob Coghill, Merrillville, Indiana, brother-in-law Cecil (Connie) Kessler, Oxford, Alabama, and nephew Todd (Bryson) Kessler, Birmingham, Alabama, niece: Kimberly (Matthew) Maniscalco, Oxford, Alabama, great nieces and nephews Reagan Kessler, Micah Kessler, Kate Wilson, Cole Wilson, Emerson Maniscalco, Roman Maniscalco, Rocco Maniscalco, Mia Maniscalco, many cousins, and close family friends. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Charlie and Eileen Kessler, Louis Sherman, and 1 nephew, Ryan Coghill.
Ken served his country in the Army National Guard for 12 years. He had been stationed in Davenport, Iowa, Belle Glade, Florida, and Quincy, Illinois. After over a decade driving over the road, he retired from truck driving with DCM Trucking. While he and Lisa lived in Florida, Ken worked for John Deere and Burger Boats, where he was a member of the local Lions Club and served as the Tail Twister, putting his sense of humor to good use and loving every moment. Ken enjoyed the outdoors, spending every chance he could camping, fishing, and playing golf. He was an avid racing enthusiast, enjoying dirt track and NASCAR; if it had 4 wheels and went fast, he was there to watch. The only thing bigger than his sense of humor was his heart. This was apparent in his love for his many rescue dogs and cats; he would never turn one away. More than anything, Ken loved his family and friends. All you had to do was ask; if it was in his power, he was there.
